Chester Le Street – Old Trafford – Trent Bridge – The Oval and then Lords
A fund-raising event run in partnership with the England Cricket Board, involving over 80 individuals cycling 340 miles over 4 ½ days to the five cricket grounds hosting the Ashes tournament that year. Quite a challenge as I hadn’t been on a bike since I was 15!!
Cricket legend Mike Gatting OBE and TV celebrity diving judge Leon Taylor were two of the initial participants in the inaugural Investec Ashes 2013 Cycle Challenge. Organised by James Bedingfield, a Senior Investment Director in the Sheffield office of Investec Wealth & Investment (“IW&I”), the ride began at Chester-le-street Cricket Ground in Durham on July 13th and finished at Lord’s on July 17th, the day before the 2nd Test match against Australia, and visited Old Trafford, Trent Bridge and the Oval on the way.
Collectively raising over £15,000 for our very worthwhile causes!
